Under financial support from the Hong Kong Institute of Philanthropy and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Charities Trust, the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) launched a public welfare program titled "Creating the Future: For Youth's Innovation Development" in Beijing on the afternoon of June 3.
The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups has been designated as a strategic partner of the newly-unveiled public welfare program.

The opening ceremony drew the attendance of Li Bin, Vice-Chairperson of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairperson of the CSCLF; Shen Beili, Vice-Chairperson of the CSCLF; Nong Rong, Deputy-Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council; Zhang Jiming, Vice-Chairperson of the CSCLF; Lester Garson Huang, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Philanthropy and Chief Trustor of the HKJC Charities Trust; Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Philanthropy and Chief Executive of the HKJC; Kenneth Chen Wei-on, President of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups; and officials from the Ministry of Education and the China Association for Science and Technology.

Noting that education, science and technology, and talent have played fundamental and strategic roles in the realization of Chinese modernization, Shen said that the CSCLF will carry forward Madame Soong's conviction of creating the future, nurture virtue through education, and help children as well as teenagers become talent and grow up in an all-round manner. She added that the newly-inaugurated public welfare program aims to explore innovative approaches for the Chinese mainland Hong Kong in their coordinated education efforts, promote the two-way flow of innovative elements between the two sides, advance in-depth integration and common development among children and teenagers from the two sides, and foster sci-tech talents with national consciousness and global perspective, thus laying a solid talent foundation for the country's modernization drive and Hong Kong's prosperity and development, and supporting the steady and long-term implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle.

Huang said that the country has further underscored its commitment to building Hong Kong into an international innovation and sci-tech center in the 14th Five-Year Plan and that young people are crucial forces in achieving the goal. He stressed that the Hong Kong Institute of Philanthropy and the HKJC Charities Trust will grant their full support to the new public welfare project and encourage the young to seize opportunities, study hard, strive for innovation and aspire to become principal figures in the innovation development of science and technology.
The new public welfare program's main beneficiary group is children and teenagers from Hong Kong. It will focus on such themes as artificial intelligence and new energy, center on the fields of science and technology, culture and education, and organize the "Dream-Building Plan in the New Era" and the "Journey to Explore the Motherland."
In addition, it is designed to provide Hong Kong youth with training activities like exchange visits, master class, innovation and technology training, and practical training in the systematic, integrated, cutting-edge, program-based and experience-oriented approaches, raise their interest in innovation and science, bolster their problem-solving competence and skills via innovation, science and technology, support their innovative development with new strength and empowerment.
