The Begonia Culture Festival is a brand cultural event launched by the Former Residence of Madame Soong Ching Ling, the Honorary President of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Since 2010, it has taken flowers and culture as mediums to bring together numerous people from home and abroad. There are two Begonia trees with a history of over 300 years, who have witnessed Madame Soong's meetings with heads, officials and friends of foreign countries as well as her efforts to promote the traditional friendship between China and other states.
In 2018, the Begonia trees at the former residence came to the top place in a list of Beijing's top 10 Begonia trees, becoming a popular destination for people to enjoy blossoming flowers and take photos.
In the spring, visitors from home and abroad often gather at the former residence to enjoy flowers, exhibitions, performances and poetry recitations, appreciating the beauty of begonias, poetry and friendship.
